365 Days: did you achieve a goal?

Dec 11, 2012

January 2012… you had hopes and dreams. You made plans to start the year with a fanfare. So what happened? How much did you achieve - everything, something, nothing? There are four weeks left until 2012 finishes and we start another year. What one thing do you want to change or do before 2012 ends? Let’s end on a high note, even if this year has been challenging, scary, or fun.

It might be jumping out of a plane for charity, or ending a relationship that’s way past its sell by date, getting a new client or having  ‘me time’. Whatever it is - plan it now and get the actions in place that will get it done before 31st Dec.

For those that had a tough year – what did you learn and what will you not repeat? Write these points down as a reminder – stick them on the fridge! Also find the good days and scribble a memory next to the action points. Happy or sad, you will have found new strengths and skills that you didn’t know you possessed. Take them into 2013 with you. Nothing is ever a mistake, just a degree of learning.

So are you ready to move forward? Before you start 2013 with another load of New Year’s resolutions that last less than two weeks, take time to look at what you really want to achieve. We all need a plan of action – be honest and list what you really hope to conquer. Take baby steps and list simple goals at first. Tick them off with every day towards Christmas and make bolder statements to yourself as New Year approaches. Be kind to yourself and feel the change, however small.  Celebrate the New Year with a sense of purpose. 2013 is yours for the taking so grab it daily and do not miss one single minute. If you need help, give me a call to guide you through decision making. Sometimes the biggest dreams are the easiest to put into plan. My job is to cut through the backlog of avoidance that gets in the way of your progress (and help you have four weeks of fun).

I once heard the saying... ‘one day your life will flash before your eyes – make sure it is worth watching’.

What a doctrine to live by. Merry Christmas everyone and a Happy New Year!
